Behind this picture is a funny story… This is my daughter, in November 2011, while we were visiting an amusement park in Halloween decor. The ‘mummy’ on the picture came up to my daughter and said nothing… My daughter didn’t really know how to react and just laughed. Then - the second after I took this picture - the mummy said ‘boo’ and we just laughed so hard… Great memories!

Mermaids & Nymphs Printable Tags

A set of 6 gorgeous shabby, vintage and textured mermaid and nymphs tags, created with images from old paintings.

Mermaids are legendary aquatic creatures with the head and upper body of a woman and the tail of a fish. Sometimes associated with perilous events such as floods, storms, shipwrecks and drownings… In other traditions they can be benevolent or beneficent, bestowing boons or falling in love with humans. Mermaids have been a popular subject of art and literature and they have subsequently been depicted in operas, paintings, books, films and comics.

Nymphs are a numerous class of lesser deities of mythology, conceived of as beautiful maidens inhabiting the sea, rivers, woods, trees, mountains, meadows, etc., and frequently mentioned as attending a superior deity.

Use these tags in your digital scrapbooking or art journaling layouts, or print them for your hybrid projects, for art journaling, for gift tags and so on. I have included a sheet for easy printing. Each tag measures 2.4 x 4.09 in, or 6 x 10,3 cm. You will receive 6 hi res PNG files and a printable sheet in JPG and PDF.

Some inspiration for you from my creative team

First up is this fantastic page from Barbara. She combined one of the Scenic Papers Vol01 with two of the Sea Creatures Flairs. She also used one of my Whimsical Templates Vol03, and bits and pieces from various On A Whimsical Adventure packs (Wonderland, Things To Do In The Garden).

Next page is from Jen Maddocks. She used one of the Scenic Papers Vol01 with some of the Sea Creatures Flairs and then some things from Mermaids (and a few things of her own packs).

Ona combined all three packs in this artsy layout. She also used some things from Mermaids.

Zeneva used a gorgeous picture from her kids on this layout - I love the light! She combined all three packs on her layout and she added a few things from Number One Dad, Wanderlust and Hippie Spirit.

And two pages from me…

On this page I used one of the Scenic Papers Vol01 Beach, one of the Sea Creatures Flairs, and a bit of Easter Morning and Hippie Spirit.

On this second page I combined one of the Scenic Papers Vol01, three of the Sea Creatures Flairs and one of the Mermaids & Nymphs Printable Tags with a (recoloured) wire from Mermaids. I took some layers from one of Heartstrings Scrap Arts ‘The Bigger Picture #4’ to blend it all together. The picture is from Unsplash.

For the first time since I’ve been selling my designs at The Digichick, I have participated in The Hatchery, the quarterly Mix & Match collection from The Digichick Designers. I didn’t know where I was going to go with the colours, and I made my solid papers first. While I was working on those, I started to have the idea to create a hippie/boho themed collection, and so ‘Hippie Spirit’ was born.

I’m sure you know the hippies from the sixties… members of a liberal counterculture, a youth movement that started in the United States and United Kingdom during the mid-1960s and spread to other countries around the world (source: Wikipedia).

This collection though is all about the ‘modern’ hippie and I found this description of the modern hippie (I couldn’t say it any better):

Modern hippies like organic food, they care about the earth and its inhabitants, they recycle and support companies that operate consciously and sustainably. Modern hippies have a vibe that is similar to the original hippies – relaxed, accepting and peaceful. Their free spirits prefer to go with the flow instead of swim upstream. All in all, they are nice people to be around. The modern hippie hasn’t abandoned the desire for more peace and love in the world, but it’s pursued in a slightly different way. The modern hippie is supremely focused on cultivating inner peace. This is because they know that these things are contagious, and if you’re peaceful inside, then the person sitting next to you gets to benefit from the calm spirit that you emanate. The hippie spirit is alive and well with the original hippies still leading the way for all of us who will never stop trying to make our planet more peaceful, loving and green. - Source: Kimberly Kingsley - Modern Hippie: An Intuitive Journey Toward a Free-Spirited Life

A Touch Of Paint Vol02

If you love the effect and texture of paint on your pages, but cannot make your own (yes, it can get messy!), then this is a pack that you will love and use over and over again. Add an instant touch of paint to your digital scrapbooking or art journaling pages with this gorgeous crafted pack of paint. The paint strokes were created by me, using various materials like ink, watercolour and acrylic paint. They were then scanned and edited at the highest quality.

The effect on the background was achieved by blending one of the solids of My One True Love with one of the Watercolour Textures (blend mode set to Luminosity, that will remove the colour but keep the watercolour texture) and I clipped papers to the masks of the template. With some masks I have lowered the opacity for a more subtle effect.
