This is one of my all time favourite quotes and only recently I found out that it was taken from a short poem written by Erin Hanson, a talented young writer. And without knowing it, I have been following her Facebook fanpage for quite some time too, The Poetic Underground. If you like modern poetry, you definitely need to check it out.

My husband, Wim, is an artist. He teaches art to children from 6-12. And he coaches teachers in schools to help them teach art to children… He has an upcoming exhibition in September, with the rest of his colleagues, and on Sunday he came home with these breathtakingly beautiful textures that he had created. He had been mixing gesso, bistre and black acryclic paint on plastic sheets. The back of those sheets was painted white with gesso, but was kept somewhat transparent.

A beautiful and cute page from Eszter! Looks like a page from a fairytale book. Eszter combined a paper from Acrylic Transitions with Castles & Princesses, Fly Me To The Moon and A Moment Captured.

 

Em has combined one of the Acrylic Transitions papers with A Moment Captured, and I think this works so well together! The orange adds a beautiful contrast to the whole layout. Those adorable pictures of her little boy are so cute.

As you may know, every year I do the artwork for an annual street theater festival in Belgium, called Zapparade. I love it, because I can really go wild with my ideas and I have total freedom.

This year’s Zapparade had Jules Vernes 20.000 Leagues Under The Sea for a theme. And while looking for images to use in my artwork, I found some great vintage mermaid images. I thought there weren’t that many good mermaid kits available and so I decided to make my own. That’s what inspired me to make this Mermaids Collection.

The official opening of my Etsy store!

I’m not opening a store on my own though, but I’m joining forces with Tinne & Joachim of VectoriaDesigns, an established and highly rated shop on Etsy. VectoriaDesigns features high quality instant download printables for paper craft projects in steampunk, gothic and vintage style and they are among the top sellers on Etsy in that area. So I’m very very excited that they are offering me this amazing opportunity to launch my whimsical designs!

What Tinne & Joachim are doing, is actually very much the sort of thing that I was planning on doing on Etsy. And they are fellow Belgians! A mutual friend introduced us to each other and well, now you know how our meetings turned out 🙂

And I finished the pack of transfers and brushes that I was working on (coordinating with the vintage tropical papers). It’s a set of 5 transfers and 5 brushes. Transfers and brushes are available in PNG format and the brushes are also available as an ABR file.

I’m making some transfers/overlays that coordinate with my Vintage Tropical Paperpack (sorry, cannot help making things with that theme)! This is the first one (I intend to make 5 different designs)! They will come in a pack with brushes (ABR and PNG files) in my Etsy store.
