A Tale Of Knights And Ladies

0

I couldn’t resist making a junk journal kit from my latest release, A Song Of Kings And Queens, and the result is: A Tale Of Knights And Ladies. Inspired by lords and ladies, magic and mystery, knights in shining armour, fairy tales and dragons, this medieval themed romantic junk journal kit uses shabby textures, vintage imagery and Pre-Raphaelite art with loads of writing space. It has quite a few alternative pages and backgrounds and a large variety of embellishments, so can fully customize your journal. It was also inspired by the popular TV show ‘Game Of Thrones’, but I’ve left out any specific references to it. This kit was designed to make a 5.5 x 8.5 junk journal. As a bonus, I’ve included most of the embellishments as PNG files, so you can use them in your digital projects, or to design your own journal pages to print.

A Tale Of Knights And Ladies is 25% off through August 11th.

See what’s included:

Have a great day,

Anja

Interactive Elements on a Hybrid Layout

0

Hi, everyone! Katie here to show you how I made this simple interactive element in my garden planner.

(Oscraps, Scrapgirls, Etsy)

The first thing I did was assemble my page, including adhering the photo that will be hidden beneath the card. I included a front and back to the card, but you could easily make it a single layer.

I stitched the front and back of the card together.

I positioned the card on the page so it covered the photo and then I stitched the card to the page along one edge.

And that’s it! Such a simple and fun way to add a little something extra to your hybrid projects.

12 summer crafting ideas

0

I have an amazing promotion for you in my Etsy shop - read more about that in this post. If you’re wondering what to do with all those yummy goodies, here are 12 fun DIY ideas for you!

1
Make a beach or mermaid themed junk journal. The bundle contains so many goodies that are just perfect for that, and it also includes a printable beach themed kit with letter size papers and embellishment sheets, if you’re not that good with Photoshop or graphic software in general. Check out creative team member Sheila May’s Mermaid Junk Journal or flip through her Beach Party / Bathing Beauties themed Junk Journal for inspiration!

2
If you’re not into junk journals, and more into digiscrapping, finally take some time to scrap the photos from that fantastic beach vacation.

3
Have you been wanting to add some new wall art to your house? Then now’s the time! The Scrumptious Sun-kissed Summer Crafting Pack contains several pieces of wall art, ready to print! All you have to do is frame them.

4
Organize your craft room! Buy a few more boxes if you need to, go through your craft supplies and put related things together. Print the Craft Room Labels on sticker sheets, so you can just print, cut out and glue the stickers to the boxes.

5
If you love to cook or spend time in the kitchen, a well organized pantry will give you extra joy. Use the Pantry Labels from the bundle to organize your supplies in a stylish way!

6
If you want to declutter your home or (home) office, the printable Cable Labels are a good start. Print, cut and attach to all those cables and cords of printers, computers, scanners, laptops, phones…

7
Invite your family and friends for a summer afternoon party in the garden! The Vintage Orchid or Tropical Getaway Tickets, the Vintage Tropical Straw Flags, the Tea Party Invitation, the Tea Bag Envelopes… those will add some extra flair to your party. Print out a few botanical papers, like the papers in the Things To Do In The Garden collection and use as wrapping paper for small gifts, or to make festive garden banners.

8
If you’re more of a silent crafting type, summer is always a good time to start making homemade Christmas gifts for family and friends. Create unique jewelry, using the Alice In Wonderland, My One True Love or Vintage Tropical Jewelry Images, make unique clocks, using the Clock Faces, fill the Seed Packets with seeds from your garden that they can sow in the spring, or record their favorite music on a CD and put the CD in the CD Sleeves with Music Fairies… Nothing is ever more appreciated than a unique, homemade gift.

9
Does your garden need some work? Print out the Garden Planner. It will help you design, plan, harvest and maintain the garden of your dreams and you can use it over and over again!

10
If you have an extensive home library, if you often lend books to family and friends, the Ex Libris Bookplates will allow you to mark your books in a stylish way. Print and paste them in your books, add your name and address - no one will ever forget that it is your book they are reading.

11
Make a digital scrapbook of your latest trip to the mountains, using the Wanderlust Collection. The muted color scheme of lilacs, greens and neutrals will allow your pictures and stories to shine. The colors will look especially great with pictures of lavender fields, woods and mountains.

12
Print 1 or more of the Ex Libris Quotes or Catching Waves Poems on vellum and wrap around a glass jar. Put a candle in it, the light will shine through the vellum and make for a very unique candle light, perfect for a summer evening! You can do the same with some of the papers from this bundle.

Have fun!

Beach Party & Bathing Beauties Junk Journal by Sheila

0

Sheila couldn’t get enough of the beach theme and simply decided to make another one! This one is more focused on a beach party and bathing beauties theme, without the mermaid fantasy. But she used some of the same supplies as she used for the Mermaid Junk Journal.

Here’s the video, some stills and a link to the supplies she used are below.

And here are the links:

Balsa Wood Magnets

0

Hi, everyone! Kate here with a look at the balsa wood magnet set I just made using the perfectly distressed elements from Anja’s kit Never Enough Hours, a collab with Captivated Visions. I’ve included a supply list in case you’d like to follow along.

(find it at Oscraps, Scrap Girls, and Etsy)

Supplies:

Photo paper

Cutting machine or scissors

Balsa wood (found in the craft section of the store)

Spray adhesive

X-acto knife

Nail file

Mod Podge

Small magnets

The first thing I did was print and cut the elements I wanted as magnets.

Next, I adhered the the elements to the balsa wood using a spray adhesive. Using an X-acto knife, I carefully cut the balsa away from the design. I used a nail file to finish it off. Balsa is such a soft wood that it really doesn’t take much - just use a light hand with the file.

I brushed all the tops with Mod Podge at this point, just to give them an extra layer of protection. Once they were dry I used hot glue to secure the magnets on the backs.

Thanks for looking! <3

Heidi is new to the team and this is her first DT project for me. Heidi is also relatively new to making junk journals, so that makes it all the more amazing what she has created…

First up is a smaller travellers style notebook. I love Heidis choice of color here! She kept it rather simple but it’s a little beauty, watch the video below:

Here are some stills:

Next is a larger junk journal that she made and WOW, take a look at all the layering that she’s done and the attention that she’s given to little details:

Father’s Day is coming up and perhaps you are thinking of an idea for a DIY gift. I have put together a few things in my Etsy shop for you, that might work well in a masculine, or father’s day themed project. Some packs have a color scheme that would work well in a masculine themed project, or some packs are really ‘masculine’ (like my Number 1 Dad collection)… Just take a peek and maybe you’ll pick up a few ideas!

Creative team member Sheila is working on a masculine/father’s day themed junk journal. I will share as soon as it’s finished, of course.

All the items in the ‘Father’s Day Ideas‘ section in my Etsy shop are 40% off thru June 7th!

‘Frozen’ Junk Journal by Sheila

0

Sheila May is new to the team and I met her in one of the Junk Journal Facebook groups that I am following. I noticed that Sheila used some items from The Graphics Fairy Membership site that I designed. I visited her Youtube channel and saw all the gorgeous journals she has made so far. So I decided to contact her and to ask her to join the team. She said yes, en this is her first project for me:

Sheila used one of my favorite collections: A Winter’s Tale.

You can grab the bundle in my Etsy shop, in my shop at Oscraps, or in my shop at Scrap Girls.

There is also a kit version of this collection, and of course all packs are separately available. I haven’t got a printable version of the kit yet, but it’s on my to do list.

Here are more pictures from Sheila’s journal:

Sheila used mainly A Winter’s Tale for these journals, along with some other things she found, and things that she made herself. She made a ‘grown up’ version and a version for a little girl, using images of the Frozen characters. I absolutely love what she did here. I hope you do too, and I hope it will inspire you!

I cannot wait to see what Sheila will come up with next, she has a wonderful idea for a more father’s themed junk journal, with Father’s Day coming up.

Speaking of Father’s Day, I’ve made a section in my Ety shop with a selection of items that might work well for a Father’s Day themed project, because of the theme, or because of the color… All these items (71) are on sale and 40% off thru June 7th!

Have a great day,

Anja
