Steampunk

A Steampunk Journal

0

Creative Team member Sheila May created this amazing steampunk journal about a fictional character named Magnus who’s visiting the World Expo in Paris, in 1889.

She used mainly papers and embellishments from the Somewhere In Time collection (including the clock faces!), some papers from Vintage Travel, A Moment Captured Camera Transfers, Steampunk Laboratory Test Tube Labels (all links below) and some things from other designers. I love that wooden cover she made, and that journal could have been a book that you purchase in a store, it all looks amazing!

Here’s where you can find the On A Whimsical Adventure products that she used:

Somewhere In Time Patterned and Artsy Papers can be found here:
Etsy | Oscraps | Scrap Girls

Somewhere In Embellishments can be found here:
Etsy | Oscraps | Scrap Girls

Somewhere In Clock Faces can be found here:

Vintage Travel Papers can be found only in my Etsy shop.

A Moment Captured Camera Transfers are available only in my Etsy shop.

The Steampunk Laboratory Test Tube Labels are available only in my Ety shop.

Sheila also used the same supplies in her amazing ‘Around The World with Nelly Bly’ journal:

It’s Time: an amazing hybrid project

2

Today I have something really wonderful to share with you. Marijke van der Heiden-engering from the Netherlands makes amazing hybrid projects and she made a breathtaking steampunk style photo album with my ‘Somewhere In Time’ collection. It has so much space for photos, with lots of little hidden booklets and tags.

She has made a video that takes you on a walkthrough through this gorgeous project. Watch it below, click here to watch the video on Youtube (and be sure to leave her a nice comment if you like it), or follow Marijke on her channel!

Somewhere in time

0
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction and fantasy featuring advanced machines and other technology based on steam power of the 19th century - more specifically the Victorian era - and taking place in a recognizable historical period or a fantasy world. I’ve always loved Steampunk but I never really made anything in that style. So when Scrapaneers asked me if I wanted to design a kit in Steampunk style, I didn’t hesitat: Somewhere In Time was born.

We measure time in hours, minutes, seconds, days, months, years… But we all experience time in a different way. There are even some that say that time is only an illusion and nothing more than a concept. Somewhere In Time was inspired by this beautiful quote from Bram Stoker in ‘Dracula’: Do you believe in destiny? That even the powers of time can be altered for a single purpose? Designed in steampunk style, using a rich but muted color scheme with tones of green and blue, sepia and wine red, industrial and distressed textures versus romantic Victorian patterns and lace, cogs, various metal and clock parts, vintage ephemera versus artsy bits and bobs, it is perfect for any romantic, fantasy or heritage project.

Somewhere In Time Kit
18 pattern papers, 12 solid papers and 85 elements, including 1 vintage bird, 1 bolt, 3 buttons, 1 chain, 1 wing charm, 1 clock, 1 clockface, 1 vintage clock, 2 clock hands, 8 flowers, 1 rusty metal flower shape, 1 tulle rosette, 6 pieces of foliage, 2 frames, 6 gears, 1 winged gear, 2 metal hearts, 1 key, 1 keyhole, 1 piece of lace, 1 vintage lady, 1 metallic string, 1 metal round, 1 metal square stud, 1 metal wire, 2 paint splats, 4 photo corners, 2 photo masks, 2 velvet ribbons, 6 distressed stamps, 1 dictionary definition stamp, 1 messy stitches and thread, 2 tags, 2 pieces of tape, 7 transfers, 1 large rusty word ‘time’, 3 various ‘time is’ stamps, 5 word strips with quotes about time.

Grab this kit at Oscraps now.

Create your own deck of cards

0

If you are a member of The Graphics Fairy Membership Site, then you will find another tutorial from me in the Tutorials tab. I am explaining how you can create your own deck of playing cards in a very easy basic tutorial. These would make a great gift for Father’s Day. And if you start now, you might have them finished in time.

More things for my Etsy store!

0

I’m feeling very inspired lately 🙂 and that has resulted in more things for my future Etsy store. Are you ready for some sneak peeks?? I’m ESPECIALLY happy with how the Vintage Tropical Papers turned out! Usually I’m not a big fan of hot temperatures (and it’s really hot in Belgium today). But today, the weather ànd some good music inspired me to make a tropical themed paperpack. I’m thinking of making some coordinating things. What do you think?

Enjoy your evening!
