Father’s Day is coming up and perhaps you are thinking of an idea for a DIY gift. I have put together a few things in my Etsy shop for you, that might work well in a masculine, or father’s day themed project. I have 4 new Mini O packs in my shop at Oscraps (that are also available in my Etsy shop). At first I couldn’t really find the inspiration for May’s color scheme with sage, mint and pine, watermelon, rosewood and strawberry red. But then I found a picture with cacti and succulents using the exact same colors. Sheila May is new to the team and I met her in one of the Junk Journal Facebook groups that I am following. I noticed that Sheila used some items from The Graphics Fairy Membership site that I designed. I visited her Youtube channel and saw all the gorgeous journals she has made so far. So I decided to contact her and to ask her to join the team. She said yes, en this is her first project for me:

Sheila used one of my favorite collections: A Winter’s Tale.

There is also a kit version of this collection, and of course all packs are separately available. I haven’t got a printable version of the kit yet, but it’s on my to do list.

Sheila used mainly A Winter’s Tale for these journals, along with some other things she found, and things that she made herself. She made a ‘grown up’ version and a version for a little girl, using images of the Frozen characters. I absolutely love what she did here. I hope you do too, and I hope it will inspire you!

I cannot wait to see what Sheila will come up with next, she has a wonderful idea for a more father’s themed junk journal, with Father’s Day coming up.

Hey, everyone! I have been diving into the world of Junk Journals lately. They are quite fascinating! They have been around for a while now, but I only recently heard of them. I found this great post on The Artsy Crafty that explains very well what a junk journal is, you can read all about them here. I couldn’t say it any better, since I’m all new to this myself!

I have also subscribed to two Facebook groups where junk journalers come together, and gosh, I’ve seen some real beauties! Junk Journal Junkies has over 14.000 members, and Friendly Junk Journal People has over 17.000 members!

Mother’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, in many countries. In Belgium we have a ‘second’ Mother’s Day that is celebrated on August 15th. Though it is a holiday, I have to admit, we never paid much attention to it, and being a mom myself, I don’t really want anything special on that day; a kiss and a hug will do. My daughter has prepared a surprise for me… What I know, is that she ordered a package for me and it has to do with something vintage, LOL.

Hi everyone! Katie here (from the CT) to show you how I use digital techniques in a hybrid layout. If you’ve ever thought about doing a little hybrid scrapping, but it makes you nervous, this might be the perfect way to jump right in.

I want to share a little of my creative process for the most recent spread in my 2018 garden journal. It’s half hybrid, half digital!

I wanted clipping masks for two of the photos so they had a more artsy look to coordinate with Anja’s beautiful papers. This is a screenshot of what I built digitally in Photoshop Elements. You can see I added some strokes to represent three of my garden boxes as well as some type. I printed these pages separately.

Next, I printed and cut the digital elements for the hybrid portion of the spread.

It’s time to add all the hybrid elements.

And this is my finished spread. I love how easy it was to put together. Projects like this let me use all the amazing digital possibilities as well as play with all the gorgeous physical product. The best of both worlds!

‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ is a digital scrapbooking collection inspired by The Wizard Of Oz and the story of Dorothy Gale who escapes the gray sadness of the world to find a place where everything is beautiful, colorful and magical. Everything was created in a muted rainbow color scheme.
